Although not the best time of year to travel to Morocco, the June sun was kind to us. Our small group of 9 headed off on a Backroads adventure tour, comfortably seated in a 16 seater Mercedes mini bus.
Our guide, Mohammed, had over 35 years experience as a tour guide and spoke 7 languages so he was highly qualified and knowledgeable. He was dressed in a Jalaba (long robe) on the first day which was a lovely introduction and dressed in bright colourful robes with head gear in the Sahara which made it all quite exotic. He always told us when it was necessary to cover our shoulders, pay a tip, etc. so we were very well-prepared but he was also flexible when needed.
Mohammed had so much knowledge about the history of his country, customs, religion, Berbers, geography, buildings, people. He also knew much about our various countries so was able to relate things back to our knowledge and experience. Really, very good. What he didn't know wasn't worth knowing!
Our tour "Majestic Morocco" was acomprehensive look at Morocco, including the Sahara Desert and gorge area east of the Atlas Mountains in my opinion an area well worth visiting and an essential part of a visit to Morocco. Something many other tour operators don't offer.
The Moroccan flavours and typical foods were wonderful to try and very tasty. I particularly loved the Tagine meatballs. There's so much to tell you about my trip to Morocco! Feel free to drop in to our office if it's a place you'd like to experience too!
